Up for sale, a 1974 Greco model SA-700R in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. A very early pre-serialized Greco model produced in Japan's famed Fujigen factory, this fully hollow instrument is unique among its peers, capturing many of the finer points of Gibson's ES line. The entire instrument is crafted from mahogany, and the fully hollow slender body has two sound posts, one between the pickups and one beneath the bridge, ensuring both optimal resonance and an ideal arch on the top and back. Paired with an ebony fretboard, the guitar offers warmth, fullness, and subtle growl, tempered by the articulate top end snap and glassy note attack of the ebony board. Featuring the original PAF-style humbuckers manufactured by Maxon, the guitar produces a sweet, singing tone with great harmonics.

Capturing the visual and sonic appeal of an early Gibson ES-345, this Greco guitar features impactful touches like the "Mickey Mouse" ear double body cutaways, multi-ply top binding, and split-parallelogram fretboard inlays. And while the Greco guitars were never subject to any actual legal action, they still round out what's commonly referred to as "lawsuit" instruments due to their reverence and accuracy to their USA-made counterparts. The guitar is featherweight 6lbs. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, this Greco SA-700R is setup with low, slinky action and fresh 10-46 strings.

The three-piece mahogany neck has a modestly chunky C profile carve with quite a bit of shoulder, measuring. 880 deep at the 1st fret and.

The fretboard has aged cream binding, and the stock frets match Gibsons vintage width and 70s era fret dress, fairly low and wide with just a touch of wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-3. The original nut measures 1 9/16 in width.

On the headstock, the chrome star tuners with metal tulip buttons turn very smoothly. The small, open book headstock shape has the inlaid Greco logo and crown as well. All of the electronics work as they should, and the Maxon-made humbuckers are well-balanced and powerful with date stamps on the baseplates from'74. The pickups have braided leads just like their Gibson counterparts, and the chrome hardware has plenty of shine with only light surface patina on the Nashville-style bridge and trapeze tailpiece.

Other cosmetic appointments include witch hat knobs and cream body binding. Cosmetically, this guitar exhibits buckle rash across the back with a slender epoxy fill and reglue of the back binding along lower bout where some minor shrinkage and separation occurred. It's not the cleanest work we've seen, but it is stable and flush.

Additionally the guitar shows some scuffing across the pick path, primarily on the guard, and just a few small scattered nicks on the neck profile.
