1987 Fender Stratocaster'62 Vintage Reissue Electric Guitar Black Japan MIJ Fuj
Up for sale, a 1987 Fender Stratocaster'62 vintage reissue model ST62-55 in 100% original condition and in perfect working order. An early Fender Japan example produced at the famed Fujigen factory, this guitar boasts a Black gloss finish and trio of original alnico single coil pickups. Notably resonant acoustically, the guitar has a chiming, clear quality with an alder body, maple neck, and thick slab rosewood fretboard, with a dynamic sound that translates well through the pickups.
The neck has a slender C shape at the nut, with a smooth, faintly ambered gloss finish on the profile and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring. 820 deep at the 1st fret and tapering to. The slab rosewood fretboard is a tight-grained cut, and the original slender frets retain their full factory height with well-rounded crowns. The frets are virtually flawless and the guitar plays well in every register with a straight neck and optimally adjusted truss rod. The guitar conforms to traditional Fender specs with a 7 1/4" fretboard radius, 25 1/2" scale, and a bone nut just shy of 1 11/16 in width. On the correct'60s shape headstock, the original Kluson-style tuners have light surface patina and turn smoothly. The small blue 55,000 yen sticker is no longer present on the back of the headstock. All of the electronics work as intended, and the stock alnico magnet single coils all meter in the mid-5k ohms range. Cosmetic wear on the original gloss Black finish includes scuffing in the pick path and an assortment of small scattered scratches and marks on the body, as well as a spot of impact with a large spot of chipped finish on the treble side lower edge. Which at some point was lightly sanded. The neck profile retains the original lightly ambered gloss finish with just a few minor marks that are not distracting to the palm. This early Fender Japan'62 Strat reissue is full of character, offering an array of classic Strat tonalities.
