This is a RARE guitar and not often found in playable condition. They were made in Japan by the Zen On Guitar Company in the 60's to compete with the USA manufactures and this is one of the better quality guitars of the Japanese import era. Zen On ceased production in 1969. The tuning keys have been replaced. The original keys were totally trash so I had to replace them.New D'Addario flat wound light gauge strings installed and the head stock logo has been replicated to that of an original. The control pots are clean with no scratches and the in put jack is solid with on static or dead spots. Sounds great and plays very well for a 60 year old vintage guitar. The body finish has some crazing, the normal nicks and bumps, but is still in great condition.
The plastics on this guitar are 60 plus years old and are getting somewhat brittle. From the pattern of the wood grain I say this is a mahogany wood body.
The bridge base has been replaced. The first two pictures show the broken one that was originally on it when I got it, but I found a replacement original and it has been installed. Two pics of the replacement bridge base are included. I tried to keep this as original as possible. All electronics, pots, pickups, controls, wiring, etc are all original. The original headstock logo was a stick-on like the one I had made. When I found it, it had flat wound strings on it so I replaced then with flat wounds. It's as close to an original as it gets!
