This "Hyakusyu-bon" is thought to have been custom-made to be presented as a commemorative gift for a 100th birthday celebration, or as a return gift to relatives gathered for a 100th birthday celebration. The center and periphery are engraved with a total of 20 "Kotobuki" (longevity) marks in various calligraphic styles including seal script. On the back of the tray is the inscription Showa 2 Nen Hinotou Tenshinto.

Hinotou is the Chinese zodiac sign for the year 1927. The Chinese zodiac sign "Hi-U" is a combination of the Chinese zodiac sign "Chou, " which symbolizes a "lighted fire" in nature, and the Chinese zodiac sign "U, " which represents the "peak of spring, " and is characterized by its gentle and subdued yet mysterious presence, like a small flickering flame in the light of the night cherry trees in the spring when flowers are in full bloom. The "Tenshin Sword" was made by a painter with the name "Tenshin" No. Is thought to have been engraved with twenty calligraphic styles by the hand of a painter with the name "Tenshin". Kurumazaki Tenshin 1878 - 1932 was found on the Internet, and there seems to be no contradiction in the chronology and age of the'Tenjin' of the'Hyakusubon' being'Kurumazaki Tenshin'. Incidentally, the biography of "Kurumasaki Tenjin" is as follows. Born in 1878 in Minoya-mura, Ora-gun, Gunma Prefecture. He studied under Chikuun Furukawa at the age of 14, and then under Soun Tazaki, who was also Chikuun's teacher, through Chikuun's introduction. In 1900, at the age of 22, he entered the Ashio Copper Mine by himself as a member of a petition to stop the Ashio mine poisoning, drew a floor plan of the inside of the mine and its condition, and traveled around the affected areas to record the actual conditions and to provide assistance. After returning to his hometown, he taught drawing and painting at elementary and junior high schools. Among his students were sculptor Amamitsu Fujino and printmaker Yoshio Fujimaki.

He was 54 years old. The "Hyakusyu-bon" in the exhibit is a piece that was kept in a stained and damaged common box, wrapped in thick Japanese paper, and kept in good condition with almost no stains or scratches.

We are not sure if it was left as a surplus at the time. There are two small holes on the back (Photos 8 and 10) with 1 to 2 mm of the wood base protruding, which may have been caused during production. The material is probably cypress. The beautiful grain of the wood can be seen through the lacquer, but we do not know what kind of lacquer it is. The size of the object is approximately 36 cm in diameter, 3.5 cm in height, and 495 g in weight. This is a rare custom-made "Hyakusyu-bon" that is approximately 100 years old, but we think it is a beautiful piece with almost no stains or scratches. It is nearly unused, and we would be happy if you could make use of it.
