Kitagawa Utamaro Large folio print on mulberry paper of a woman hairdresser and friend, image is often referred to as prostitutes as well. This large image measures 24.2" x 16.8" plus the frame, it is extremely well made, the black lines are crisp and the colors even throughout. Up close you can see a faint line that runs through the middle top to bottom and the middle side to side. These are either light creases or a nearly imperceptible connection of four wood block paper panels attached together. Having taken this out of its frame to examine it, I would guess this is a mid to late 20th century copy. Pristine under glass and framed in an original Japanese frame.
