Rare Japanese Cloisonne Enamel Vase with Auspicious Symbols Marked Ando

Here is a beautiful and rare Japanese cloisonne enamel vase with an elegant globular formed body worked with various auspicious symbols set against a koma (sacred bead) shaped ground. The decorations represent good luck including the origami (paper folding) crane and shuttlecocks.

These items are set against musen (wireless) koma (sacred bead) in a light gray enameled ground, which is considered part of the Imperial treasures of Japan. This vase is finished in a high polish and is in pristine vintage condition without any major faults such as cracks, chips or hairlines or restoration. The only condition issue is a small dent to the bottom metal rim and there is no impact to the enamel. As many of you know, I originally acquired this vase many years ago as part of my fanatical efforts to obtain as many examples of fine examples and techniques of Japanese cloisonné. Specialists generally agree that less than 7. % of all Japanese cloisonne enamels are marked or signed by the artist workshops or as in this case, the retailer. Overall, a very beautiful and exceptional quality cloisonné vase that is in excellent condition overall arked by the Ando workshop, a well respected artist. This piece is a testament to the Ando workshop that leveraged the very difficult enamel color of white, which can reveal most all inconsistencies and imperfections of the light colored enamel. This exact vase is illustrated and described on page 131 in Chapter 16, " Yusen - Jippo ; Standard wire cloisonne enamel, " in the reference book " Japanese Cloisonne Enamel ; A Private Collector's Notes and Reference Guide , " by Gary Yoshino. The height of this vase is approximately 5.75 inches.

The width of the vase is approximately 7.0 inches. As Japanese cloisonné enamel is very fragile, we will double box and pack this item with tremendous care.
