This vintage 1969 Bulova Caravelle has lived a life of adventure. The black "T Japan T" signed dial shows wear and tritium degradation. This may be the result of past moisture ingress although I would have expected to see oxidation on the metal of the hands if that were the case. The original lume, which emits a quick-burst glow after being exposed to bright light, has aged to a deep patina on the dial and a warm golden buttermilk hue on the hands. The bezel smoothly rotates bidirectionally and the original black insert looks good.

The heavy duty all stainless steel case is in excellent condition showing minor wear and no visibly significant oxidation. The inside of the case back is stamped "CARAVELLE WATCH DIVISION" followed by "BULOVA WATCH CO, ""SWISS" and 637. The crystal should be replaced. The 17 jewels unadjusted Japan "CARAVELLE WATCH, "II DP" and "M 9 stamped manual wind movement runs strong and keeps decent time. After recently winding the sharply threaded, original "C" stamped crown 35 full revolutions (impressive for a manual wind) the movement had a solid power reserve of approximately 38 hours, losing nearly 3 minutes during that time.

Considering that the movement shows no signs of ever having been serviced (there are no visible watchmaker service markings on the inside of the case back or on the movement) a complete overhaul is recommended. This watch measures approximately 36 mm excluding the crown, approximately 39.5 mm including the crown and approximately 20 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 8.5 mm. Including the crystal case thickness measures approximately 10.5 mm.

Given that this watch is approximately 49 years old and considering that the movement shows no signs of ever having been serviced a complete overhaul is recommended to keep it running strong. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch.

Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time. Any servicing costs going forward are your responsibility. And please study the 12 high magnification pictures carefully as they are part of the description and serve as an accurate representation of the condition of this watch.
