Vintage 1970's Made in Japan Avon Rose Morris Double cut sold body guitar

A 1970's Japanese made SG body guitar produced for import and retail by Rose Morris of Denmark Street, under the'Avon' badge. Fairly standard Japanese entry evel construction with a Ply body and Mahogany neck, all finished in a translucent brown.

This one appears to have had a sucession of tremolo devices fitted at some stage, definitely a Bigsby and possibly a Vibrola too, the resultant carnage in the way of four holes have been filled and dotted in with cellulose. Aside from this there are a number of edge knocks and chips, again largely filled with matching laquer. And some pretty significant laquer cracks around the neck pocket. It also appears to have had a suplementary strap button fitted at some point. From a playing viewpoint everything functions as it should and the faux humbuckers produced a fairly sweet and quite toppy tone, although not terribly high output. The action is set at around 2.0mm accross the fingerboard at the 12th fret and the neck is of a comfortable and full profile. The trapeze tailpiece is probably a bit unorthadox but it does divert the eye sucessfully away from the holes in the top!
