Vintage Arbiter SG Custom E230 Japan Matsumoku 1970s Roadworn 3 pickup with Bigsby
Vintage Arbiter E230 SG custom electric guitar. Madin Japan in the early - mid 1970s by Matsumoku. This is quite an unusual version compared to other examples seen online, possibly its a little earlier (early 1970s maybe).

The things that make it a little more unusual are the white finish and the lack of split diamond on the headstock facing. We possibly thought the finish was a refin, and there is a chance it still maybe but the more we looked the more we doubted this, if it is its old and pretty well done. All the body cavities are the same white finish and the neck and headstock are cleanly done. We showed this to a couple of repairmen we know and use here in Bristol and neither thought it was a refin either. The lack of split diamond headstock inlay is unusual but its not a modification, it had a plain headstock from the factory.

There are other things to note. Used condition, marks, indents, chips and wear to the finish. Wear to the gold hardwear , usual gold plating loss through use. Usual neck pocket lacquer cracks both signs. One replacement tuner ferrule (high E string).

Tuners replaced at somepoint but originals back on, signs of previous replacement tuners with visible additional holes filled. No fretboard edge dot markers, a past owner has scratched in small dots into the finish at the 7th , 12th and 19th fret positions. This guitar features a solid Mahogany body, probable Mahogany neck and Rosewood fretboard.

It has a Bigsby style trem and rectangular fretboard inlays. It has 3 humbucker pickups which are wired to a 3 way switch and 2 x vol , 2 x tone controls. It plays nicely and the electrics work cleanly and well. The strigs are recent but not brand new but in good condition at time of listing.
