Vintage Kutani Moriage Statue Hotei 11 Signed Made in Japan

Vintage Kutani Japan Ceramic Sculpture of Hotei Some flaws - 11 tall (28 cm). One of the shichi-fuku-jin or Seven Lucky Gods of Japanese mythology. Hotei is believed to be the God or bringer of contentment, happiness. This Kutani Hotei has a cheerful face, welcoming and approachable. Moriage decoration and hand painted exterior shows some flaws. Such as uneven coloration, small smears to the moriage. Gold embellishments are still brilliant.

Some kiln firing cracks on the base. A heavy, well detailed piece. Embossed maker's mark and well decorated.

A timeless piece and traditional example of Japanese Kutani craftsmanship and Japan mythology. Widest width across the front is 7 inches. Statue is heavy and fragile. Vintage, Used or Antique items will show wear and imperfections. All images provided are of the item for sale.
